Family Law and the Presidential Election

It is almost time for the Presidential Election. Everyone is impacted by the outcome but what many people do not realize is how much an election can impact family law. The Democrats and Republicans both have strong yet opposite views on health insurance/health care, same sex marriage (Defense of Marriage Act), taxes, and Social Security. Obviously this list of differences is only the tip of the iceberg in what sets apart the parties, but these are the big issues which directly impact the practice of family law and those who divorce.

I have blogged about these issues in the past so please take the time to review some of my past writings as you head to the polling booth:

Several posts on Health Insurance/Health Care.

Two posts related to Same Sex Marriage  and the Defense of Marriage Act:  Domestic Partnerships and Validity of Foreign Same Sex Marriages in California.

Several posts on Taxes.

A detailed article on Social Security Benefits and Divorce.

There are many more issues which impact the practice of family law and those people who divorce, but the above issues are some of the most polarizing and critical aspects everyone faces.
